The remains of 80 skeletons, including infants, and mummies were laid to rest in a ceremonial ritual in the ancient settlement of Pachacamac, near Lima, Peru. It is thought that the remains are 1000 years old. The remains were found in an abandoned temple.
Not much is known about the mummification method as of now.
The mummy were discovered by a group from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. The group which goes by the name of the Ychsma Project, has held archaeological digs in Pachacamac since 1999.
