The well-preserved mummy of an adult female, collected by Sir Charles Nicholson in the 1850s, became a foundation object for the Nicholson Museum in 1860. The hieroglyphs on the coffin indicate Maruah was "mistress of the house," "chantress of Amun-Ra," and "adorant in the precienct of Mut" at Isheru in the Karnak temple complex.
