Discovered in the Italian city of Mantova, near Verona. Initially upon analysis, there was many unknown aspects of the skeletal remains; it took over a year for the ages and sexes of the two to be confirmed. Instead of removing the bones one at a time and piecing them back together at a later time period, archeologists decided to remove the two together by extracting it as a whole.

It is not confirmed as to whether or not this is an ceremonial burial or not; in the Neolithic Period, it was rare for bodies to be buried together, and even more unique for the bodies to be buried in this position.

After an initial examination, experts determined that the man and woman were no more than 20 years old, and both around 5 feet, 2 inches tall.

There are many ongoing theories as to why the bodies were found in this specific position. Due to the close proximity to Verona, the most popular theory is that the two were star-crossed lovers, and died together. Though this is not confirmed, the idea of the two being lovers is the most widely accepted idea with archeologists.
