The Albany Institute acquired the mummies from the Cairo Museum in 1909. This is one of two mummies at the Museum in Albany, NY, one being Ankhefenmut, this one is a male (initially thought to be female) whose name is not known, apparently because the top of the coffin was badly deteriorated and left in Cairo in 1909.
X-rays reveal that he was probably between 35-45 years old when he died.
During Dynasty XXI, a change in the practice of mummification occurred. The internal organs were no longer placed in canopic jars, but were usually wrapped in linen packages. These packages were then placed in the empty body or placed between the legs.
